The Aluma Journey

There are moments in life when everything falls apart. The structures you’ve relied on—your career, your identity, your sense of stability—suddenly come crashing down, forcing you to question everything you thought you knew.

In tarot, this is captured in The Tower card—a moment of upheaval that feels like destruction but ultimately clears the way for something new.

The Tower tarot card

I had my own Tower moment when I was abruptly pushed out of a career I had spent years building. It wasn’t just a professional setback; it shattered the foundation of how I defined success and forced me to confront deep, uncomfortable questions about who I was and what I truly wanted. Everything I had worked toward suddenly felt uncertain, and for the first time, I had to step back—not just to make sense of what had happened, but to heal, to let go of what was no longer meant for me, and to uncover what truly mattered.

Like many people in times of uncertainty, I searched for meaning. I tried journaling, meditation, all the usual self-reflection tools, but none of them helped me process what I was going through in a way that felt tangible.

Then I found tarot.

Not as fortune-telling or prediction (I’m skeptical of that), but as a tool for introspection. The symbolism and imagery helped me step outside my situation and see it from a fresh perspective. The randomness of drawing a card made me pause and reflect, almost as if it was surfacing something I hadn’t been able to put into words.

But I won’t pretend it was easy. I struggled with the process. I found myself constantly looking up card meanings, cross-referencing different sources, and trying to piece together insights instead of actually sitting with what the cards were bringing up for me. What should have been a deeply introspective experience sometimes felt more like a research project. But over time, I realized the real value wasn’t in memorizing definitions—it was in the reflection itself.

That’s why our team of secular tarot enthusiasts built Aluma—to help bridge that gap.

Aluma: A New Way to Reflect

Aluma blends the wisdom of tarot with AI-guided journaling to help you slow down, process emotions, and gain new perspectives. Each session offers a space for self-reflection—whether you’re navigating a breakup, a career decision, or simply trying to make sense of your emotions.

But Aluma isn’t about predictions or mysticism. It’s about you—your thoughts, your growth, your inner world. By combining symbolic imagery with AI-driven prompts, Aluma makes it easier to connect with the deeper meanings behind the cards without getting lost in research. The focus stays on reflection, where it belongs.
